Sterling Park Eagle Eye News Is Best In Florida

Sterling Park Elementary School's "Eagle Eye News" was recently awarded First Place in the state of Florida for Grades 3-5 News Show. The recognition was given by the Jim Harbin Media Festival sponsored by the Florida Association for Media in Education. The 20 students involved are now in sixth grade. During their time on the news crew, they acquired skills including public speaking, audio and video "mixing", graphic design on two different software programs, camera operation, management and direction.

Each morning, 5th grade students produce a 5-7 minute news program that highlights events on campus. The students report on the weather, share the lunch menu and a joke of the day. Other important announcements include after school club activities or events. Congratulations to those students who produced the award-winning show under the direction of Ms. Wells, Media Specialist. Special thanks to Mr. Lloyd, Educational Technology Facilitator, for his technical support.
